I work with a guy that drinks probably about 3 litres of cola each day! Yikes! And somehow he’s as skinny as me. Well, that got me interested in the possibility of making your own coke. After doing a bit of research on home carbonation kits, and cola recipes, I’ve basically decided that Coke, RC Cola, Pepsi, et al are pretty damn cheap, and you’d have a hard time making a decent tasting cola at a lower price than those brands. Anyway, here’s a couple links I found during my “research”
Ways to make your own Coke
Using the Soda Stream home carbonation system. This device allows you to carbonate any flavoured beverage you’d like, and the company also sells flavour packages. Anyone for carbonated milk?
Using yeast to produce the carbonation – Creepy mustachioed dude inspires me to make my own soda.
Caveman Cola – this kit comes with cola extract, yeast, and funnels, and most importantly: instructions on how to make your own coke.
Open Cola, the cola recipe that’s open source. Here’s one redditor’s ambitious plans for selling his own Open Cola syrup base.

have you tried the Soda Stream system yet? I’d like to be able to make my own healthier version of Coke!

Nope! Haven’t tried it out, but would love to give it a shot.
I do love mixing soda water with iced tea, or orange juice though. Why isn’t there a carbonated iced tea, anyway? Or carbonated milk??? Ah, nevermind.
